Ultrasonic sensors are used to search for suitable bay and kerb-side parking spaces. The system calculates the parking path for bay parking spaces (forwards and backwards), and the parking and exiting paths for kerb-side parking spaces.

The driver has to accelerate, change gear and brake, as well as monitor the parking process. The steering action is performed by the system.

Audi driver assistance systems work only within system limits and are intended to assist the driver. The driver remains responsible for driving the vehicle and is required to remain attentive at all times.
